Converted on your device — the video is never uploaded
The MP4 to MP3 Converter extracts a video’s audio as an MP3 inside your browser — any size, any length, with bitrate, sample rate, channels, trimming and loudness levelling.
Taking the sound out of a video is the most common media conversion there is — a lecture to listen to on the way home, the audio from an interview, a song from a performance you filmed. Every free site that does it wants the file uploaded first, puts a queue and a size cap in front of you, and keeps a copy on a server you cannot see.
The conversion runs in your browser through ffmpeg.wasm — the real ffmpeg, compiled to WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded: a wedding video, a client recording or an unreleased track never leaves your machine. The engine is a one-off download of about 32 MB, after which your browser caches it and every later conversion starts immediately.
Choose the bitrate from 64 to 320 kb/s, resample, force mono to halve the size, trim to a section with a start time and a length, and even out the loudness to the EBU R128 broadcast standard. The page reads the video’s real audio details first, so it can tell you when you are asking for a higher bitrate than the source actually holds.
No upload means no queue and no cap — only your device’s memory.
Speech at 96, music at 320, everything else at 192.
Give a start time and a length to take just the part you need.
Optional EBU R128 normalisation for consistent volume.
ffmpeg runs inside the browser tab, so the file never leaves your computer.
MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM — anything with an audio track.
192 kb/s is a good default; 320 for music, 96 for speech.
Give a start time and a length.
The first run downloads the engine once.
No server limit, because there is no server. The practical ceiling is your device’s memory — a feature-length file works on a desktop, while a phone will struggle beyond a few hundred megabytes.
That is ffmpeg itself, compiled to WebAssembly so it can run in the tab. Your browser caches it, so later conversions start straight away.
192 kb/s for general listening, 320 for music you care about, 96 or 64 for speech. Going above the source’s own bitrate only makes the file bigger.
No. It is read from your disk into the tab, converted there, and the result is saved straight back. You can disconnect after the page loads.
