Remove markdown from ChatGPT and Claude answers and keep clean plain text.
The Markdown Stripper removes markdown syntax from ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini answers — bold, headings, quotes, rules, inline code and fences — while keeping paragraphs and list order, with options for links, tables, emoji and em dashes.
Copy an answer out of ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini into an email, a CMS field, a form or a text message and it arrives covered in syntax: double asterisks around every bold phrase, hashes before headings, pipes and dashes where a table was, backticks and code fences.
Paste the markdown and get plain text back, with the words, paragraph breaks and list order intact. Headings, bold, italics, strikethrough, blockquotes, horizontal rules, inline code and footnote definitions are removed. You choose what happens to the rest: links become their text or text followed by the URL, list markers are kept or removed, and tables become tab-separated rows that paste neatly into a spreadsheet.
Optional passes remove emoji, replace em dashes with commas, and join everything into a single paragraph for fields that do not accept line breaks. Code block contents are protected from the other passes, so underscores and asterisks inside code survive.
Paragraph breaks and list order survive; only the syntax is removed.
Markdown tables become tab-separated rows that paste into Excel.
Keep link text only, or the text followed by the URL.
Underscores and asterisks inside code blocks are left untouched.
Remove emoji, replace em dashes and join everything into one paragraph.
Copy the answer from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any markdown document.
Link URLs, list markers, tables as rows, code contents and image alt text.
Optionally remove emoji, replace em dashes, or join into one paragraph.
Paste it wherever formatting symbols would show up as clutter.
ChatGPT writes markdown, where **text** means bold. The chat window renders it, but plain-text destinations such as email subjects, forms and many CMS fields show the raw symbols.
No. Paragraph breaks are kept, and repeated blank lines are collapsed to one. Use the single-paragraph option only when a field does not accept line breaks.
Each row becomes a line with cells separated by tabs, which pastes into Excel or Google Sheets as proper columns. You can turn this off to keep the cell text only.
The fences are removed and the code inside is kept exactly as written, unless you choose to drop code blocks.
