The Gradient Image Generator renders linear, radial and conic gradients as real image files at any resolution — for presentations, email, print and app assets, where CSS is not available. The equivalent CSS is generated alongside, and optional noise removes the banding gradients show on 8-bit displays.
CSS handles gradients on the web, but plenty of places cannot: presentation software, email templates, print layouts, video editors and anywhere an image is expected rather than a style.
This produces the file. Linear, radial and conic types are all available with as many colour stops as you want, each positioned exactly. Because the output is rendered at whatever resolution you set, it can be a 4K desktop background as easily as a 200-pixel button texture. The equivalent CSS is generated alongside, so the same gradient can be used both ways without building it twice. Optional noise breaks up the banding that gradients show on cheap screens.
Linear along an axis, radial from a point, conic sweeping around one — all with unlimited stops.
From a small button texture to a 4K desktop background, rendered at the size rather than scaled up.
A few percent of dither removes the visible steps that wide gradients show on cheap screens.
The same gradient as a style rule, so it can be used both ways without being rebuilt.
Each colour stop is placed exactly rather than distributed evenly, which is where control actually matters.
Linear for a direction, radial for a glow, conic for a sweep.
As many as you like, each with a position along the gradient.
From a small texture up to a 4K wallpaper.
Download the file, and copy the equivalent CSS for web use.
For presentations, email templates, print layouts, video editing and app assets — anywhere that expects an image file and cannot interpret a style rule.
Because 8-bit colour has only 256 steps per channel and a smooth gradient across a wide area needs more. Adding a few percent of noise dithers the steps and removes the banding.
One that sweeps around a centre point rather than along a line or out from a circle. It is what pie charts and colour wheels are made of.
Two for a simple blend, three when you want a distinct middle colour. Beyond about five, gradients start to look muddy rather than rich.
