TOML Formatter
Tidy a TOML file: consistent quoting, ordered tables, keys before headers.
Convert CSV or a spreadsheet paste into a padded Markdown table.
The CSV to Markdown Table converter detects the delimiter, escapes pipes, converts line breaks and pads every column so the raw Markdown lines up — turning a spreadsheet paste into a table you can commit.
Markdown tables are unpleasant to write by hand and worse to edit, because every cell has to be padded to keep the source readable. Paste the data instead — from a CSV file, a tab-separated export, or straight out of Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
The delimiter is detected automatically, so a copy-paste from a spreadsheet works without picking anything. Columns are padded so the raw Markdown lines up in a code editor, pipes inside a cell are escaped so they do not split it, and line breaks become
so a multi-line cell survives. Column alignment can be set to left, centre or right, which Markdown expresses through the colons in the divider row.
A copy from Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers is tab-separated, which is detected automatically with nothing to configure.
A pipe inside a cell is escaped so it stays in its column instead of splitting the row — the usual reason a pasted table comes out broken.
The raw Markdown lines up in an editor, which matters because someone will have to edit it later by hand.
Left, centre or right, expressed through the colons in the divider row that Markdown uses.
Line breaks inside a cell become
, since a Markdown table row has to stay on one line.
CSV, TSV, or a block copied straight out of a spreadsheet.
It is detected automatically, and can be overridden if the guess is wrong.
Left, centre or right, and whether to pad the columns in the source.
Paste it into a README, a pull request, an issue or any Markdown document.
Yes. A spreadsheet copy is tab-separated, which is detected automatically, so pasting works with no configuration.
It is escaped as \| so it stays inside its cell instead of splitting the row, which is the usual way a pasted table comes out broken.
Only for the readability of the raw Markdown — renderers ignore the spacing entirely. Turn padding off for the smallest possible source.
Tables are a GitHub-flavoured Markdown extension, not core Markdown, but almost every modern renderer supports them: GitLab, Bitbucket, Notion, Obsidian, Docusaurus and most static site generators.
